How did you start skiing?
The cousin of Alpine Meadows Freestyle Team founder Clay Beck, I stuck with the family tradition. I joined the Alpine Meadows team at 13 and made the three-hour commute to Tahoe from Piedmont, CA every weekend all winter. At 17, I narrowed my focus to just moguls and began competing in NorAm events.
Where did you grow up skiing?
I grew up skiing in Squaw Valley - skiing KT-22 West Face moguls and cites on Silverado with my dad when I was 6.
Where and when was your first competition?
Alpine Meadows, March 2000.
What motivates you to keep skiing?
What makes you unique as a skier/athlete?
I am unique because of the level of education I was able to achieve while training and competing-- a Bachelor’s in Psychology at University of California, Berkeley, and a Master’s in Business Administration at Westminster College.
What other hobbies do you have?
Cycling, mountain biking, travelling, and eating good food.
What made you switch to Zipline graphite poles?
It is nice to have an affiliation with a pole company that has an interest in seeing freestyle athletes excel. I've been around since the beginning of the distribution of the poles, and it is great to see how far the poles have come in quality and branding.
